Workshop Strands: Includes 4 Major Learning Strands:
The learning strands will include breakout sessions for every level of human resource learning.
Labor Relations/Negotiations-This strand will be like nothing you have seen in the past! Each breakout session will be unique and can be for the beginner or the seasoned negotiator. Whether you are directly or indirectly involved in the collective bargaining process or the administration of a contract, this strand will offer a variety of key topics to include, why we have unions, building collaboration between the district and the union, writing and interpreting language, how to get language in or out, handling grievances, and interest-based bargaining.
Leaves & Accommodations- This strand is designed to provide a general overview of FMLA, ADA and Worker’s Compensation at the Federal and State Level. As a bonus this strand will address how all three interact, overlap and conflict. This strand will then shift to dig deeper into making actual accommodations and recognizing injured workers when they return.
This strand will also include a roundtable discussion where participants can share their leave and/or accommodation processes and get ideas on how to improve upon their methods.
Mental/Physical Well-Being in the Workplace- This strand is geared towards creating a happy and healthy workplace by providing strategies and concepts to cope with harassment, bullying, stress, difficult employees and change. Further, the intent of this strand is to focus on remaining positive and looking forward to a bright future in human resources and education.
Performance Management- This strand will explore performance management of certificated and classified employees within the broader context of organizational development and human resource management. Participants will assess the challenges of performance management in public education and will review different performance management models. The strand will then shift to specific tools, techniques, and strategies for addressing performance challenged employees to include defensible documentation of non-renewal and discharge actions.
Plus we are offering mini seminars as part of the Conference Tuesday afternoon which will cover, Professional Learning Communities, Certification and Creating a Training Plan for Your School District.
*The Spring Conference will offer a huge variety of new speakers under the breakout sessions, breathtaking student performances, fantastic door prizes and so much more!
